Dates for your November diary!

If you are in London, near Tower Bridge between 14th and 19th of November then pop into the Boomer Gallery and see a wide range of art on display and available to purchase.

Stormy skies and Wild Moorland - Inspired by Wuthering Heights and Howarth.

A work in progress but these are some of the works so far. Some of these artworks are having a lot more than two firings, each taking 24hours, a slow process but worth it in the end. The whole process is based on layering, adding more detail and then firing again until I achieve the desired outcome. Watch this space.

These and more will first be available at the above fair on the 23rd of November. Some I am currently making have even been snapped up already! so I am now holding them back until the Art in the Barn Fair.

Taking Orders

Bridgid the Protector, Celtic Goddess - Mother Earth.

Made from strerling silver, fine silver or copper

A lovely meaningful gift for someone you love and who is spiritual in nature. Brigid is a Celtic goddess from Ireland who is associated with many aspects of life but most well known for the the festival of Imbolc. The Imbolc festival celebrates the beginning of spring on February 1st, which was considered the beginning of spring to the ancient celts. At Imbolc, fires are lit and people celebrate and support one another through the last cold days of winter before spring emerges. Fire connects her with crafts people such black smithing and metal smithing. She helps and protects women going through childbirth and is a symbol of fertility. She is a fierce protector and healer. A  goddess of fire, poetry and healing. For this reason she is considered a triple goddess. The sacred feminine. Mother earth.

There are many prayers associated with Brigid that support healing and protect the home.

Each Brigid pendant will be unique due to being completely handmade and will contain the makers stamp and 925 silver stamp if made from Sterling silver. The pendant will arrive as a part of a pocket protection kit, including draw string bag, tourmaline crystal and a smudge/sage stick.

These unique pictures are created using a kiln and can incorporate metal inclusions and enamel detail.

Each piece then goes through a series of cold working  processes by hand to ensure a neat and shiny finish.

These usually go through several 12 hour kiln firings to produce the desired effect and appropriate detail and texture.

NOTE: Commissions can be taken but please  bare in mind the lengthy process and that there maybe a waiting list.

Please keep an eye on the Pickle Pot shop for new additions.

Functional Pieces

Explore a range of  glass designs intricately crafted to capture the essence of nature.

The Pickle Pot shop stocks items such as plates, bowls, garlic bread platers, soap dishes and candle holders, (please check the shop to see what is available).

Items are created using a variety of styles, colours and techniques.

The glass used for this purpose will often be hand produced in the studio, created using hand made pattern bars which is a lengthy process but with a highly unusual and striking end result. These are completely one off pieces which are impossible to reproduce.

Pieces can have striking detail that is also individually produced in the studio, such as the use of pattern bars and handmade murini and the use of limited edition and reactive glass.

Metal Smithing

Discover the art of metal smithing with our collection of finely crafted metal jewellery. Each piece showcases precision and creativity.

You will find jewellery pieces created from sterling silver, fine silver, copper, brass and bronze and sometimes a combination of metals for that ultra creative and unique look.

Some pieces will have precious stones and gems and others may contain fused glass with metal inclusions such as copper and sterling silver.

Enameling

Enamelled Jewellery and more ...

The art of enameling has been practiced since ancient times. It is another way of using glass in it's powdered form.

The base is carefully cut out of metal and the powdered enamel placed on in layers and fired either in an enamel kiln or with a jewelers torch.

Engraving

Engraved copper pieces are engraved by using a traditional chemical engraving method.
Catherine would like to reassure everyone that the method she uses is environmentally safe and any chemicals she uses are neutralized before disposing of.

Electroforming Nature

What is electroforming?

Electroforming is the process of plating an item (from nature) into silver, copper or gold using an electrochemical transfer.

This can be a long and steady process to ensure that all the detail on the object is kept intact - usually four days to just over a week.

Art Work for sale

Catherine teaches life drawing classes and has a love for pastel landscapes with dramatic skies.
